Starcraft 2 Terran Build Orders
The Terran race generally have the most alternatives throughout a fight because they are well balanced and have flexible soldiers. To counteract this adjustability, the Terrans have the most difficult way to gather resources. Because your SCVs gather minerals, gas, and generate structures and repair soldiers, mineral and gas accumulation generally will drop off as you deploy your SCVs for different duties. A great Terran build order strategy will be sure to acquire and use the Mule early – this can assist tremendously with resource gathering. For a period of twenty seconds, a Mule can collect twice as many minerals as an SCV, and that makes it a very helpful early battle strategy. Intelligent use of the Mule can offset the disadvantage Terrans have vs. the other races when it comes to mining minerals.
Early Mule Terran Build Order
To produce a Mule as quickly as one can, you will have to:
1. Build a Supply Depot after building nine SCV troops.
2. After two new SCVs (11 total) choke your ramp by constructing a Barrack and another Supply Depot.
3. Make certain to always have an SCV at your Command Center.
4. Close off the ramp with one more Supply Depot as soon as the Barrack is built.
5. Upgrade your Command Center to Orbital Command immediately after your Barracks is constructed. At this point you should have 14 SCVs so you’ll acquire enough minerals to complete the upgrade as soon as the Barracks is erected.
6. Deploy two additional SCVs get Vespine gas as you create a Refinery.
7. To protect yourself from offensive offensives, spawn several Marine units.
8. Try to gather a minimum of 50 gas so you can hook up a tech lab to your initial Barracks. Then construct yet another Barracks.
9. You can cast a Mule now. Be sure to cast it on the closest mineral mine so you can squeeze in another trip before the Mule is over.
Terran Build Orders vs. Zerg
To prepare for a Zerg land attack, get ready either a Zergling Rush attack or an all out Zergling attack. A massive Hydralisk attack together with Roaches is another possible ground attack. With use of the Terran build of 2 Barracks, 1 Supply Depot, and then additional Barracks (with a possible Academy as well), Terran’s can generally protect themselves from these Zerg tactics.
Spawn Firebats to fight against Zerglings and Marines. Build Firebats and Siege Tanks to battle against a Hydralisk\Roach or Hydralisk\Zergling offensive. After winning a confrontation, build Bunkers outside the enemy town. While defending, drop SCV units next to defensive Bunkers so they can heal them as they get damaged by enemy attacks. While Terrans have terrific defenses, turtling will eventually become a losing strategy, especially if the opponent begins to overwhelm you with resource collection, which can be a weak area for Terrans.
Terran Build Order Advice Against Protoss Enemies
A common Protoss offensive maneuver is to stage a massive Zealot offensive. The best way to handle this is to use both offensive and defensive Bunkers and to be sure you have constructed a minimum of 4 Barracks. Always be sure to scout your enemy at all times, most importantly at the start of the battle. If you find a Cybernetics Core or a Robotics Facility means your Protoss enemy is attempting to build Reavers. If you see Reavers, utilize your Wraiths to kill them. You can even do this if the Reavers return into their Shuttle – simply destroy the Shuttle with your Wraiths as well. Attack the Reavers from far away with your Siege Tanks, first putting them in Siege Mode set up close to the center of your village. Make certain you have enough distance that the Reavers can’t counterattack but you can reach them. As a final resort, use Marines to attack them. Make sure the Marines cast Stim Packs and are not together so cannot be defeated at the same time.
Lockdown can be very effective vs. every Protoss units with the exception of Archons and Zealots. Lockdown is terrific when approached by a numerous number of Carriers. A winning offensive game plan is to keep switching between Supply Depots and Barracks while at the same time building SCVs. Set up your headquarters in a tight, enclosed formation. Build a Bunker to protect your headquarter (the reason they should be constructed to be tightly packed), and fill up your Bunker with 4 Marines. Keep constructing Marines, Barracks, and SCVs. Using this technique, there is no reason to mine gas until later.
