Baywatch And Fond Memories About The Most Watched Show On Earth
If you have not heard about or viewed the TV hit show Baywatch, then you might have just landed here from another planet. For this you might be excused. However, if you are a citizen of earth, chances are you caught a few episodes or have not missed even one episode since its debut.
This worldwide phenomenon is probably best known for its hot babes and hunky men strutting their stuff on one of California’s beaches. Not only did the show highlight beautiful bodies both male and female however, but also brought the profession of life guarding to an all time high. Youngsters all over the world wanted to become lifeguards like Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff), and many girls wanted to be just like J. C. Parker (Pamela Anderson).
Who could forget when the show first aired in 1990? It was a strange combination seeing bronzed bodies that were able to save lives and protect beach goers as well. Unfortunately, it did not sit well with many viewers initially and the series was subsequently canceled. This however did not deter Hasselhoff and a few other producers and directors because they knew Baywatch had huge potential.
Internationally the show skyrocketed and was subsequently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most watched TV show in the world of all time. At one stage, it had 1.1 billion viewers a week.
The show’s plot had a winning mix. Not only did Hasselhoff become well loved but he and his team took part in some awesome life saving scenes. Added to this, they had interpersonal relations which was mainly centered around dangers along the beach and on sea. The hot babes and hunky guys were combined with perfect live guarding skills which was to become the show to watch.
All the stories were centered on an element of danger and mystery while people were being saved. Millions of people just loved it when the camera slowed down and zoomed in on the actors, as they were running on the beach with rescue-can in hand and hair blowing in the wide. Their red swimsuits also had a certain appeal to both young and old. Having to deal with problems in their own lives and catching serial killers or helping to defuse bombs and rescuing people in earthquakes, gave the audience excellent entertainment which is set in a relaxed beach atmosphere.
The series is not only famous for its actors, but has also highlighted the real life dangers a lifeguard faces every day. They received a new kind of respect on the beach from millions of people and for this, we should be grateful. After all, we also want them to rescue us from potential danger, just like in Baywatch.
